So for the sake of time, it is reasonable to just look at the following results to figure out how each model compares to the other.

Benchmark and Value Comparison Conclusions

By examining and comparing many sets of benchmarks (summarized in the tables above) it was pretty easy to make some conclusions on best values. The below conclusions assume an ideal target of about 60 FPS. Generally, performance above that gives diminishing returns as far as value is concerned.

  • Best Value for 1080p Gaming: RTX 2060 Super ($420 range)
  • Best Value for 1440p Gaming: RTX 2070 Super ($510 range)
  • Best Value for 4K Gaming: RTX 2080 Super ($720 range)

You can make an easy decision on the best value for you by looking at your monitor’s native resolution.

What does the “Super” mean in RTX 2070/2080 Super?

Quick answer: the Super models are the latest models and are always as good or better than non-super models. Currently they’re about the same price. Always go with the Super if you have the option.

The “S” or “Super” that follows the model (e.g. RTX 2070 Super) is a recently updated version of the card. It has very similar components in the actual hardware, but Nvidia has optimized the Super versions. In almost all cases the Super versions give better performance, and currently they sell for similar prices as the non-Super versions. The non-Super versions appear to be getting slowly phased out as stores sell their old inventory off.
