Quickly plan out your laning strategy in 30 seconds before your game starts. Bookmark and come back for your next match!

The first sections cover the best Teemo item options, the best Teemo item builds and order, who Teemo counters, who counters Teemo, rune pages, skill orders, Teemo top laning secrets, attack combos, invisibility strategies and much more! The rest of the detailed guide covers specifics of each and all of Teemo’s top lane matchups.

In season 7 I wrote a matchup guide just like this that well over a hundred thousand people used (remember Frozen Mallet Teemo?) Since then I’ve continued playing Teemo primarily and have now completed this new mega matchup guide! I play Teemo top in solo ranked queue through Platinum each year on several accounts.

Here is a general layout of how to build Teemo with all the items that make sense on him. The ideal builds vs specific champions are listed in the matchup section. 3. Teemo Item Builds for Season 13 / S13

A general core build will include your boots, mythic item, and an attack speed item (usually Wit’s End or Nashor’s). Then build either a second AS item, AP damage, or tank item as the game dictates. Build Morellonomicon as needed vs matchups or teams that have a lot of healing. Grab Quicksilver sash as needed to survive major crowd control or ultimates.

I tend to prioritize survival over damage because the longer you are alive, the more autoattack and poison / damage over time you do. Enemies will often mindlessly single a Teemo out and it’s often unavoidable. However if you survive their initial burst, you get more damage output and are more useful compared to being a glass cannon that dies before every teamfight.

  • Standard AP Teemo Build:

    1. Sorcerer’s Shoes
    2. Nashor’s Tooth
    3. Riftmaker (longer fights, sustain) OR Liandry’s (shroom/late teamfights)
      • Oblivion Orb/Morellonomicon vs healing champs only
    4. Demonic Embrace
    5. Finish with
      1. Wit’s End (if able to AA freely),
      2. Rabadon’s (Spell Damage), Void Staff (vs magic resist tanks),
      3. Shadowflame (vs shields, non tanks), or
      4. Zhonya’s (vs assassins)
  • Standard Teemo Build #2: On-hit AS

    1. Berserkers’ Greaves
    2. Nashor’s Tooth
    3. Riftmaker
      • Oblivion Orb (vs healing champs)
    4. Wit’s End
    5. Demonic Embrace
      • (Demonic Embrace before Wit’s End if you need HP or can’t AA much in fights)
    6. Late/Alternate Options:
      1. If tankiness is needed, Warmogs and/or Gargoyle Stoneplate
      2. If doing really well and want insane AS, Rageblade (or BoTRK vs tanks) as your 3rd AS item
      3. Otherwise Rabadons, Void Staff (vs MR), or Zhonyas (vs assassins)
    7. * Could try substituting Shieldbow as mythic when vs a lot of assassin pressure, but late game teamfight damage suffers.
  • Tanky Sustain Teemo Build
    1. Mercury’s Treads (vs AP) or Plated Steelcaps (vs AD)
    2. Riftmaker
    3. Wits End
    4. Demonic Embrace
    5. Need more tank? Gargoyle Stoneplate / Warmogs / Banshee’s Veil
    6. Otherwise Nashors or even Blade of the Ruined King (vs tanky)
      • Take Grasp of Undying Rune Keystone for a ton of extra sustain in lane
      • Will be mana hungry. Try not to sell your Doran’s Ring, take Manaflow Band or Presence of Mind runes.
  • Glass Cannon Shroom / Burst Build:
    1. Sorcerer’s Shoes
    2. Liandry’s Torment (Mythic)
    3. Nashor’s Tooth
    4. Demonic Embrace
    5. Void Staff (if vs MR stacking tank) / Zhonya’s Hourglass (if vs assassins)
    6. Rabadon’s Deathcap  (shroom damage) or Lich Bane (short burst damage)

  • AD Attack Damage Teemo Build (RARE)
    1. Berserker’s Greaves
    2. Mythic: Immortal Shieldbow
      1. Kraken Slayer alternative – does more damage but lacks sustain/shield
    3. Wit’s End (build sooner if vs AP in lane.)
    4. Blade of the Ruined King
    5. If tankiness is needed, Warmogs / Gargoyle Stoneplate
      • otherwise Guinsoo’s Rageblade as 3rd attack speed item
    6. Other late game options: Runaans Hurricane, Rapid Fire Cannon, Infinity Edge
    7. Situational: Build Executioner’s Calling as 2nd or 3rd item vs healing,
      • *Only do this build if everyone else on your team is AP damage and you’re free to autoattack constantly.
      • *Teemo will still end up outputting half magic damage even building all AD items!

  •  AD Critmo Teemo
    • (Rare build, only use when your team is too AP heavy and it also makes sense for your lane matchup)
    • (Otherwise you’re likely to get flamed, cause team fighting, and get reported)
    • Fleet Footwork as your keystone rune instead of PTA
      1. Doran’s Blade or Ring / etc (matchup dependent)
      2. Berserker’s Greaves
      3. Rapid Firecannon
      4. Stormrazor
      5. Kraken Slayer (preferred) or Immortal Shieldbow vs. assassins/losing
      6. Later options: Infinity Edge, BotRK and/or tank items, depending on team compositions and how the game is going

4. Rune Pages for Teemo

Ideally, go #1 Press the Attack (PTA) or #2 Hail of Blades. Try both, see how often you can trigger the 3 attacks in a row for PTA. If you can’t, switch to #2 Hail of Blades. Teemo is best when he can autoattack constantly in lane, and those runes play to that strength.

Go with #3 Summon Aery in team comps or matchups where you can only really poke safely with Q, and/or need to rely more on spells. Swap out the Keystone for Phase Rush against certain champions who can run you down like Garen. #4 Grasp of the Undying is a rare choice, it can be a lot of fun vs tanks to trigger it constantly and it gives you enough sustain in matchups where you can’t avoid damage.

#1 Press the Attack: Standard Rune Page #1 (AA Focused):

  • Precision: Press the Attack, Presence of Mind, Legend: Alacrity, Coup De Gras
  • Resolve: Bone Plating, Overgrowth

Best vs tanks and longer trades, try both PTA and Hail of Blades and see what you like best.

Teemo AS Runes Standard

PTA Runes vs Tanks and longer trades

#2 Hail of Blades: Standard Runes #2 (AA Focused)

  • Domination: Hail of Blades, Taste of Blood, Eyeball Collector, Ultimate Hunter
  • Resolve: Bone Plating, Overgrowth

Similar to the Press the Attack runes, this is better when you are not able to get 3 AA’s in a row very often in lane to trigger PTA. Lacks any mana regen.

Hail of Blades Runes

Hail of Blades Runes – for quick trades

#3 Aery: Shroom / Blind Focused Rune Page:

  • Primary: Sorcery: Summon Aery, Manaflow Band,  Absolute Focus, Gathering Storm
  • Secondary Option #1: Resolve: Bone Plating, Overgrowth
  • Secondary Option #2: Domination: Taste of Blood, Ultimate Hunter

Occasionally you will want Phase Rush instead of Summon Aery, for example vs Garen when you need a boost of move speed. This rune page can be best vs a squishy enemy team or assassin lane matchup.

Maximum Skill and Shroom Damage

#4 Grasp of the Undying

  • Primary: Resolve: Grasp of the Undying, Demolish, Bone Plating, Overgrowth
  • Secondary: Domination: Cheap Shot, Ultimate Hunter

Grasp is helpful for sustain, it is the “safe” choice for lane but you lose damage. These runes also lack mana regen. Try Liandry’s with this build if you find you are mana starved. Remember attacking creeps makes you “in combat” so Grasp can trigger a few seconds later.

Grasp Rune Page

Grasp: use for sustain and/or immobile enemies

5. Skill Order & Summoner Spells for Teemo

Skill Leveling order: nothing special here, this is pretty standard for most Teemo players:

  • R > E > Q > W.
  • Pick your R Shroom Ultimate immediately when possible (at Level 6, 11, and 16.)
  • Always level E (Toxic Shot) when you can after level 3.
  • Almost always pick Q over W.

Summoner Spells:

  1. Take Flash always.
  2. Take Ignite 95% of the time for kill pressure in lane
    1. Take Teleport very occasionally if there is no chance of kill during lane phase, not against lifesteal, and you need to split push.
      • Avoid taking teleport as a crutch to get heals. Better to fight properly with ignite. Keep teleport to be able to join fights across the map while split pushing.

6. General Teemo Tips

  • Be aggressive! Put the fear of Teemo’s AA harass into your enemy right away and don’t let up ever. Autoattack (AA) them once or twice every time they walk up to kill a minion.
  • Don’t be desperate and overchase for kills however, be content with zoning, harassing, and denying CS.
  • Learn wave management – know when to push, when and how to freeze a lane, when to crash your creeps into the enemy tower to deny them CS and apply pressure.
  • Watch minimap for enemy jungle and mid champ location – know or guess their location at all times.
  • Shroom enemy gank paths, including friendly side since they’ll try to dodge your shroom vision
  • Use shrooms for vision in lane and in jungle choke points later on.
  • Shroom enemy’s path to objectives like dragon and baron ahead of time
  • Save at least 2 shrooms at all times when a teamfight may break out.
  • Throw shrooms on nearby creeps to ensure they will go off ASAP while trading in lane. The explosion range/damage/slow is surprisingly large.
  • Time use of blind to mitigate enemy autoattacks, especially empowered ones like Nasus Q, don’t spam it for damage mindlessly.
  • Practice kiting / autoattack (AA) animation canceling.
  • Use the combo: autoattack > immediate Q > autoattack regularly (unless you need to save your blind vs autoattacking champions)
  • Autoattack harass enemy melees heavily in lane as they walk up to CS
  • Know when you are countered, losing, or being jungle pressured and learn to play safe under/in front of your tower.
  • Level 1 Cheese: If the enemy doesn’t take ignite and/or has a weak or long cooldown level 1 skill, try cheesing them at level 1 – run to lane immediately when the gates open up, get to their side of lane but without being revealed by tower, and wait invisible. Then all in them with ignite when they walk past you. It can set the tempo for the rest of the game, force them to back and give you a level advantage. When they return to lane, all in them again when you hit level 2 and they are still level 1.

Teemo’s Invisibility: Detailed Tips and Clarification:

    • Enemy red trinket (Oracle Lens) only shows your position, you are still untargetable, it just shows a delayed red shadow of your location.
    • You can of course still be damaged by untargeted and AoE skills, even their damage or stun won’t reveal you unless they “displace” you (like a knockup or knockback).
    • You are only knocked out of invis if you attack, cast, OR or are displaced (knocked up, knocked back, pulled etc.)
    • In a bush you can freely move and stay invis as long as you don’t attack or cast. (Be careful if kiting around while invis not to accidently right click on an enemy and AA them.)
    • Cooldown for invis is 1.5 seconds. Taking damage will prevent you from invis, so if you are taking damage over time or get hit before that 1.5 seconds, you won’t go invisible.
    • If you’re caught out of position and getting chased down, try running to a bush if your tower is too far – if you can get in the bush for 1.5 seconds without taking damage you can go invis, hide and survive so your jungle can show up to help.

7. Counters / Bad Matchups – Who to Ban or Dodge as Teemo:

In rough order, starting with the worst/hardest matchup for you:

  1. Ryze – he can shut down your harass, poke you, and sustain easily
  2. Irelia – highly dependent on enemy skill, but her ability to close gaps, stun, burst, and sustain can shut down any advantage your range and blind offer.
  3. Yorrick – if he catches you in his wall or hits you with an E he can easily win, and its difficult to harass him while dodging those
  4. Gangplank – make sure you pick a build with good sustain (grasp/taste of blood) or he can poke you out of lane easily.
  5. Aatrox – your blind can’t help much, he has a ton of sustain to deal with any harass, and whenever you harass he can catch you with knockups
  6. Yone – hard to deal with his engage, burst and free disengage
  7. Sion – vs an unskilled Sion it can be easy to kite around him and autoattack him to death, but a Sion who hits his abilities is difficult.
  8. Nasus – fine during lane phase with the right build, but late game he can be impossible even with optimal blind use.
  9. Rumble – flamethrower harass, shield to mitigate trade damage makes winning lane tough. Playing under tower is usually fine though.

Who does Teemo Counter?

Its ideal to face the following champions when you’re playing as Teemo. Early game aggressively harassing enemies (who don’t know how to respond) can lead to lane phase feeling like you are completely countering many champions not listed here.

  1. Camille
  2. Garen
  3. Maokai
  4. Malphite
  5. Shen
  6. Volibear
  7. Renekton

Teemo Vs Aatrox Top Lane Season 12

  • Difficulty: very hard
  • Runes: Sorcery: Phase Rush / Resolve or Fleet Footwork
  • Summoner Spells: Flash, Ignite
  • Starting Items: Boots + Potions
  • Core Build: Swift Boots > Nashor’s > Oblivion Orb > Riftmaker or Shieldbow

Tips & Strategy for Teemo vs Aatrox Top Lane LoL:

You need the move speed from boots and swift boots right away to dodge Aatrox’s  Q’s. Stay on your half of the lane, try to freeze in front of tower or farm under tower. If Aatrox takes something like Doran’s Shield and Teleport, and plays defensively, he may be bad and that could be punished. However in general he has too much sustain to poke down, and he can punish you too easily if you try to poke him. Stay near your tower and watch for him to make a mistake, like eat a tower shot and/or call for a gank when his lane pushes. You can bait out like you are trying to AA him, then cancel it and dodge, he will often try to hit his Q and waste it. Then you have a short time to poke carefully, but again, best to just farm and get a gank.

Teemo Vs Akali Top Lane Season 12

  • Difficulty: Easy up to level 6, difficult when Akali has ult
  • Runes: Aery + Resolve (Bone Plating)
  • Summoner Spells: Flash, Ignite
  • Starting Items: Doran’s Ring
  • Core Build: Sorc Shoes, Liandry’s, Nashor’s?, Oblivion Orb, Maybe Giant’s Belt Early
  • Other Items: Wit’s End, Demonic Embrace, Warmogs, Gargoyle, Zhonya’s

Tips & Strategy for Teemo vs Akali Top Lane:

Try to punish and be as aggressive as possible, even zone her away from experience pre-level 6. You can try to cheese at level 1, but don’t let her get on top of you or you will likely lose or both die. But always be wary of ganks when doing this. Also avoid tower diving to finish her off at all costs unless you’re sure Akali’s smoke shroud cooldown and dash is used, if so she can easily escape.

Teemo Vs Ashe Top Lane Season 12

  • Difficulty: Easy or Average – Farm lane or easy if jungle ganks
  • Runes: Aery, Manaflow Band + Bone Plating, Overgrowth
  • Summoner Spells: Flash, Ignite
  • Starting Items: Doran’s Ring
  • Core Build: Plated Steelcaps or Swift Boots, Liandry’s or Luden’s, Nashor’s Tooth
  • Other Items: Demonic Embrace, Zhonya’s, Thornmail if she gets fed somehow, Quicksilver Sash for ult

Tips & Strategy for Teemo vs Ashe Top Lane:

Obviously a very rare lane matchup, but a strong Ashe player could manage to do okay here. Ashe has strong poke, but if she uses it she will push the lane quickly. Inform your jungle and request ganks. Always keep creeps between you and her to block her arrow spray spam. She can AA you easily if you walk up to AA her (Ashe 600 range, Teemo 500). Do enough poking to bait out her arrow spray, but don’t go chase. Her slow pretty much guarantees you can’t kill her unless she makes a mistake or your jungle comes. It’s also possible for her to kite you around for the same reason, so keep engagements to 1 combo or just a Q, then back up. Keep in mind her stun makes Jungle ganks against you very strong also, don’t get too cocky.

Teemo Vs Camille Top Lane Season 12

  • Difficulty: Easy
  • Runes: Press the Attack + Resolve: Bone Plating, Overgrowth
  • Summoner Spells: Flash, Ignite
Starting Items: Cloth armor + pots
  • Core Build: Plated Steelcaps (or Berserkers Greaves if way ahead) > Nashor’s Tooth > Riftmaker
  • Other Items: Wit’s End, Demonic Embrace, Shadowflame,

Tips & Strategy for Teemo vs Camille Top Lane:

Keep a bit of distance from walls to be able to juke her wall jump>stun. Cloth armor+pots start lets you win the fight if she tries to all in you early on. Be sure to save up blind for when she jumps at you. If she does, and it misses, you can usually punish that hard. Start AA’ing and kiting her right away, and save your blind for when she gets in melee range. To dodge her wall jump, often it makes sense to walk further down the lane rather than retreating, that gives you extra time to punish or kill her. If her wall jump cooldown is used, you can use blind in your AA>Q>AA standard quick combo while harassing. Remember her ult holds you in place for a long time, so even if you’re way ahead she can use that to help her jungle get a kill on you. In some situations it makes sense to walk toward the inner part of her W (AoE Jump) so you dodge the slow of it and can chase her down.  Overall pretty easy, be aggressive.

Teemo Vs Cho’Gath Top Lane Season 12

  • Difficulty: Farm lane, should be average difficulty to farm, jungle pressure decides.
  • Runes: Resolve: Grasp
  • Summoner Spells: Flash, Ignite
  • Starting Items: Boots + Pots
  • Core Build: Swift Boots > Wits End > Liandry’s, sometimes Giant’s Belt and/or Oblivion Orb first if things are going poorly
  • Other Items: Blade of the Ruined King, Rageblade, Demonic Embrace, Warmogs, Gargoyle Stoneplate, Void Staff

Tips & Strategy for Teemo vs Cho’Gath Top Lane:

Very dependent on Cho’s ability to to predict your movement to land his knockup. Swift boots are important to make this easier. However after the first back, it’s pretty difficult to be aggressive enough to whittle Cho down while he is healing up from his passive on creep deaths. Always beware of Cho Flash Ult. If that’s happening, buying some flat HP can help you survive and farm under tower.

Teemo Vs Darius Top Lane Season 12

  • Difficulty: Medium to Moderate Hard
  • Runes: Phase Rush or Hail of Blades
  • Summoner Spells: Flash, Ignite (consider Flash, Ghost)
  • Starting Items: Boots + Pots
  • Core Build: Swift Boots, Nashor’s Tooth, Liandry’s Torment
  • Other Items: Morellonomicon, Wit’s End, Gargoyle Stoneplate

Tips & Strategy for Teemo vs Darius Top Lane LoL:

The lane is entirely dependent on Darius’s E pull hitting or not. Need boots to help dodge it. If Darius pulls Teemo and gets on him it is almost impossible to win. Punish Darius if he misses his E, be aggressive for a good amount of time after that (E cooldown at level 1 is almost 25 seconds.) Beware Darius taking flash + ghost as that guarantees he can chase you down, you need to get him to about half HP or less before a pull or he can win from way behind. Probably best not to go past half lane unless Darius is very low. Darius’s Q swing will often push the lane toward you so try to bait that out when safe.

Teemo Vs Fiora Top Lane Matchup S12 LoL

  • Difficulty: Medium
  • Runes: Phase Rush or Hail of Blades
    Summoner Spells: Flash, Ignite
  • Starting Items: Doran’s Ring
  • Core Build: Plated Steelcaps > Nashor’s Tooth > Liandry’s or Riftmaker
  • Late Item Options: Morellonomicon or Thornmail, Wit’s End, Gargoyle Stoneplate

Tips & Strategy for Teemo vs Fiora Top Lane:

Fiora has a lot of gap close potential, but its not as bad as some as she has no solid crowd control. If you get a vital that is directly facing her, you can back up a medium distance and it will reset to another direction. Phase Rush can you get away after a quick poke combo, then reset when the Phase rush cooldown is back up. Feel out how Fiora uses her W (Riposte) which can block your blind and all damage. Also be sure to move laterally when she uses this, if the line hits you, you are slowed for a long time.

Teemo Vs Gangplank Top Lane Season 12

  • Difficulty: Medium
  • Runes: Sorcery: Aery, Manaflow Band + Domination: Taste of Blood, Ultimate Hunter
  • Summoner Spells: Flash, Ignite
  • Starting Items: Doran’s Ring
  • Core Build: Sorcerer’s Shoes (or Swift Boots) > Riftmaker or Liandry’s > Demonic Embrace
  • Other Items: Corrupting Potion, Nashor’s, Rabadon’s

Tips & Strategy for Teemo vs Gangplank LoL Top Lane:

Stay out of range while his sword is on fire, wait for him to CS a minion. You must trade AA+Q every time he Q’s you or fall behind. Try to get in occasional AA’s when he walks up to CS after his SHORT cd Q is down. Must dodge barrels, first back get boots. Good GP’s who can chain 3 barrels properly are an issue. Don’t usually need attack speed early unless your jungle is going to be coming with CC – otherwise its just a farm and/or poke game. Prioritize getting CS over poke though, in general it seems to be a farm lane unless there’s jungle pressure. If he does chain barrels it will probably push lane, so use that to freeze in front of your tower and farm safely if needed.

Teemo Vs Garen Top Lane Season 12

  • Difficulty: Easy
  • Runes: Phase Rush + Domination: Cheap Shot, Ultimate Hunter
  • Summoner Spells: Flash, Ignite. Could occasionally try ghost or exhaust.
  • Starting Items: Boots + Pots
  • Core Build: Berserker’s Greaves > Nashor’s Tooth and/or Wit’s End (if he rushes MR) > Liandry’s
  • Other Items: Demonic Embrace, Rabadon’s, Void Staff, Gargoyle Stoneplate, Warmogs
  • Final Build Example: Berserker’s Greaves, Nashor’s, Wit’s End, Liandry’s, Demonic Embrace, Rabadons or Void Staff (if MR stacking)

Tips & Strategy for Teemo vs Garen Top Lane:

Can poke easily early in lane phase, should be able to zone him too. Be very aggressive at level 1 — be sure to rush to lane and get in far bush first, then poke him right before creeps come up. Don’t let him walk past you though, you always need to keep your distance.  Poke him ruthlessly whenever he walks up to try for a CS.. Low ELO many Garens will just give up in this matchup if you are super aggressive and don’t make mistakes. Against more experience opponents need to have your flash available if his flash is up, he can rush at you, ghost and flash and usually get just enough damage down with his ult to kill you. To prevent this, poke him down first before he’s ready to try this, but if he does this and you fall behind build Demonic Embrace and play a little less aggressive. Save your W move speed boost unless his Flash/Q and Spin are down, or he is too low to fight you. Don’t waste it to help with a little poke randomly. Remember his ult can do a good chunk of damage even if he’s behind.

Teemo Vs Gragas Top Lane Season 12

  • Difficulty: Medium
  • Runes: Phase Rush?
  • Summoner Spells: Flash, Ignite
  • Starting Items: Dorans Ring or Blade
  • Core Build: Berserker’s Greaves > Wit’s End > Riftmaker
  • Other Items: Demonic Embrace, Nashor’s Tooth, Warmog’s

Tips & Strategy for Teemo vs Gragas Top Lane:

Phase Rush helps you get poke down then get back before he can get in position to dash at you, and also to chase if he messes up a trade. He has a good amount of sustain, damage, escape, etc so killing him won’t be easy. His ult can knock you toward him to help his jungle pull off ganks, so the jungler is more likely to want to gank for him. Sometimes it’s useful to flash to the other side of his ult and get hit by it intentionally to push you further away. Overall not too tough, but you have to be very active in your moving and dodging constantly. If you make a mistake he can get on you and burst a squishy Teemo down. Wit’s end helps with move speed boost after every AA, enabling longer chases and dodging after an AA, and gives you magic resist.

Teemo Vs Gwen Top Lane Season 12

  • Difficulty: Hard?
  • Runes: Aery or PTA?
  • Summoner Spells: Flash, Ignite
  • Starting Items: Dorans Ring
  • Core Build: Berserkers Greaves > Wits End > Liandry’s  or Riftmaker then tanky AP
  • Other Items: Demonic Embrace, Warmogs, Gargoyle Stoneplate, Force of Nature

Tips & Strategy for Teemo vs Gwen Top Lane:

At level 6 with her ult she can pretty easily win fights 1v1 and decide when to engage, or at the very least decide when to all in and double-KO. I think it’s best to farm near your tower unless you get way ahead in trades. Build tanky AP sustain. Hope she dives and you can outplay as the tower hits her once or twice plus your ignite and you might win. Her shroud ability makes her untargettable by autoattacks which are your main damage source, also you can’t target your blind… all of this becomes a pretty hard counter. Her shroud even automatically moves with her (one move per cast, moves a medium distance to follow her if she leaves it.) Meanwhile she has plenty of damage that can’t be negated by blind at all, (scissors and ult) plus a dash and her ult has good range. Gwen usually builds as AP damage Nashors and Riftmaker first, then some tank.

Teemo Vs Heimerdinger Top Lane Season 12

  • Difficulty: Medium to Hard?
  • Runes: PTA or Aery
  • Summoner Spells: Flash, Ignite. Consider teleport if your jungle isn’t going to gank at all.
  • Starting Items: Doran’s Ring or Shield
  • Core Build: Riftmaker, Wit’s End, Berserker’s Greaves
  • Other Items: Demonic Embrace, Warmogs, Nashor’s

Tips & Strategy for Teemo vs Heimer Top Lane LoL:

This will be a farm lane, but heimer is susceptible to ganks, let his turrets push a little, but don’t let him get too strong a foothold. You should be able to poke down the turrets some. Be wary that if you are low and/or your jungle is squishy, heimer can outplay in a 2v1 if his turrets are set up still. Don’t get overzealous and give him a super strong lead. Be wary chasing heimer through minions and turrets, that damage will turn the fight in his favor even if you start ahead. Try to bait out his E by posturing to walk up and AA a turret, then back up. Can be more aggressive when it’s down. Try to stay behind minions to block missile hits. Heimer’s turrets will turn to shoot at you if Heimer hits you with a spell.

Teemo Vs Illaoi Top Lane Season 12

  • Difficulty: Medium
  • Runes: PTA, Bone Plating, Ovegrowth
  • Summoner Spells: Flash, Ignite
  • Starting Items: Doran’s Ring
  • Core Build: Berserker’s Greaves, Nashor’s, Riftmaker, Oblivion Orb
  • Other Items: Morellonomicon, Demonic Embrace, Wit’s End, Gargoyles, Void Staff

Tips & Strategy for Teemo vs Illaoi Top Lane:

Keep behind creeps to stay safe from her E grab. Be ready to dodge Illaoi’s Q’s – finish boots first. If you do get grabbed, decide immediately if you are in position to all in her with ignite. Either way, never run up close to her and if she ult’s, you have to immediately get out of the circle of tentacles, there’s no way to win if you are in there even if she is at 10% HP. You can poke her pretty well from behind creeps, or when her E is down, be aggressive when she is going up for a CS. Avoid letter her get ahead. Try to freeze in front of tower rather than retreating all the way back to tower if possible.

Teemo Vs Irelia Top Lane Season 12

  • Difficulty: Very Hard / Dodge?
  • Runes: PTA or Hail of Blades + Resolve: Bone plating, Overgrowth
  • Summoner Spells: Flash, Ignite
  • Starting Items: Doran’s Ring
  • Core Build: Plated Steelcaps or Berserker’s > Nashor’s > Liandry’s or Riftmaker > Oblivion Orb
  • Other Items: Morellononimcon, Demonic Embrace, Wit’s End, Zhonya’s, Gargoyle Stoneplate

Tips & Strategy for Teemo vs Irelia Top Lane:

A good Irelia can be a nightmare that will force you to stay near your tower due to her constant threat of engage and high damage. For her engage she will wait until one of your creeps is low, dash to that to kill it, then she can dash again. She can also chain creeps so she could cross half a lane instantly if the creeps are laid out correctly. She also has good sustain, so any successful trades you pull off can be quickly  Be careful about wave management, don’t let her freeze the waves on her side. Overall probably best to play passive unless you realize the Irelia is unskilled. Don’t get baited into thinking you have an advantage and can chase her down.

Teemo Vs Jax Top Lane Season 12

  • Difficulty: Teemo advantage early, Jax can
  • Runes: PTA or Hail of Blades + Resolve (Bone Plating, Overgrowth)
  • Summoner Spells: Flash, Ignite
  • Starting Items: Cloth Armor + Pots or Doran’s Ring
  • Core Build: Merc Treads or Berserker’s,  Nashors Tooth, Liandry’s or Riftmaker
  • Other Items: Wit’s End, Demonic Embrace, Gargoyle, Morellonomicon

Tips & Strategy for Teemo vs Jax Top Lane:

Beware of Jax cheesing by getting into bush at the start of the game before you – rush to lane immediately and watch for it. Avoid all in vs Jax if he does this – if he gets on you, he can outdamage you at level 1, but if you keep your distance you can be very aggressive level 1 and 2. If you gain an advantage, try to continue it and force Jax to use his E defensively. Mid to late game even if you held a big lead, if you let Jax jump on you, he can still win so don’t get cocky. Don’t overstay as he can also do a lot of damage to your turret quickly if you need to back at a bad time. Us your W to get out of range of his E stun when he jumps at you, don’t attack while it is spinning just run back. Attack jax while in his E mode does nothing (it dodges all autoattacks) and it also increases the damage when it ends. If you can’t escape his stun, try to fire off the Q blind right before you get stunned.

Teemo Vs Jayce Top Lane Season 12

  • Difficulty: Medium
  • Runes: PTA + Resolve (Bone Plating, Overgrowth)
  • Summoner Spells: Flash, Ignite
  • Starting Items: Doran’s Ring
  • Core Build: Plated Boots or Berserker’s > Nashor’s Tooth > Liandry’s or Riftmaker
  • Other Items: Demonic Embrace, Rabadon’s Deathcap, Zhonya’s

Tips & Strategy for Teemo vs Jayce Top Lane:

Always be ready to dodge his empowered Q, stay behind creeps when possibly. Try to keep out of range of Jayce’s Q hammer engage, he can jump on you, do his combo and knock you back then withdraw while you are slowed. However if you stay within the cluster of your creeps he can’t safely do this as he can get trapped. So when poking him do it from within your creep area. If you dodge his Q’s and poke at the right time you can be aggressive here, but if you catch a Q or two you can easily get too low to do anything. Constantly move up and down in lane, not forward and back to make his Q harder to aim.

Teemo Vs Kayle Top Lane Season 12

  • Difficulty: Average
  • Runes: PTA or Hail of Blades + Resolve (Bone Plating, Overgrowth)
  • Summoner Spells: Flash, Ignite
  • Starting Items: Doran’s Ring
  • Core Build: Berserker’s Greaves or Sorc Shoes, Nashor’s Tooth, Riftmaker
  • Other Items:  Wit’s End, Rabadon’s, Demonic Embrace

Tips & Strategy for Teemo vs Kayle Top Lane:

Be very aggressive pre-level 6 while Kayle is melee form, try to zone, but you’ll have to be dodging her Q spell and will eat one empowered autoattack every few seconds while doing this so you have to trade back every time that happens. Riftmaker helps you sustain. With your Q blind, you can win trades then withdraw right as blind wears off. You need damage output, avoid building tank items until lane phase is over.

Teemo Vs Kennen Top Lane Season 12

  • Difficulty: medium
  • Runes: PTA or Hail of Blades + Resolve
  • Summoner Spells: Flash, Ignite
  • Starting Items: Doran’s Ring
  • Core Build: Sorcerer’s Shoes or Berserker’s Greaves, Nashor’s > Liandry’s
  • Other Items: Demonic Embrace, Zhonya’s, Rabadons, Wit’s End

Tips & Strategy for Teemo vs Kennen Top Lane:

Consider a Ruby or Giant’s belt to give you just enough HP to survive a Kennen flash ult all in. Keep behind creeps to avoid eating constant ninja stars. Kennen can play safe and stay far back, baiting you to overextend, then punish you with flash ult. Make sure you avoid eating his Q ninja stars as that will mean taking the damage from his W electricity too. You can safely Q him from behind minions walls constantly. If going a little closer to within AA range, he can trade back autoattacks, but yours will do more damage (but to repeat, keep a minion between you and him). When Kennen’s ult is up, he can hit you with the edge when you step up to AA him, and can match your move speed boost to chase with his E. If he does catch you in his ult, drop a shroom on nearby minions so it goes off while you are stunned.

Kennen ult cooldown: 120 seconds at level 6. Kennen AA range: 550. Teemo AA Range: 500. Teemo Q Blind Range: 600.

Teemo Vs Kled Top Lane Season 12

  • Difficulty: medium/hard
  • Runes: Hail of Blades
  • Summoner Spells: Flash, Ignite
  • Starting Items:
  • Core Build: Plated Steelcap, Nashor’s Tooth, Liandry’s
  • Other Items: Demonic Embrace, Wit’s End, Zhonya’s, Gargoyle Stoneplate

Tips & Strategy for Teemo vs Kled Top Lane:

Avoid long fights and chasing/overextending/running straight at him when you knock him off his mount, just poke quickly through creeps when he tries to CS to wear him down slowly. He can do a surprising amount of sustain and damage at low health in his melee form if he can get on you for a couple autoattacks and a gunshot, then get his mount and HP back. Punish him when he misses a hook, keep creeps between you and him while his hook is ready. At level 6 he can all in, especially if a jungle is nearby it is certain death if not near your tower.

Teemo Vs Malphite Top Lane Season 12

  • Difficulty: Easy to Medium
  • Runes: Grasp of the Undying + Domination, or Summon Aery + Resolve
  • Summoner Spells: Flash, Ignite
  • Starting Items: Dorans Ring + Pots
  • Core Build: Sorc Shoes or Merc Treads > Riftmaker > Wit’s End
  • Other Items: Demonic Embrace, Nashor’s Tooth, Shadowflame, Demonic Embrace, Void Staff, Zhonya’s

Tips & Strategy for Teemo vs Malphite Top Lane Matchup Guide LoL:

Riftmaker early or Grasp is needed to sustain vs Malphite’s constant Q poke. As long as you don’t get out of position, you should be able to sustain enough that Malphite will run out of mana before you run too low on HP for the first few levels. Every time Malphite Q’s, be sure to respond with AA>Q>AA combo. Watch out for Malphite going all in with his ult right as he hits 6 — don’t overstay in lane if you are low on HP. After first back try for Leeching Leer and a couple potions and you will be fine. Punish Malphite when his Q and ult are down. If you are quick, you can flash to the side of malphite’s Ult and as long as you’ve been poking him, you should be able to turn the fight and get a kill. Grasp rune can be fun and makes sustain very easy here. Make sure you are constantly staying in combat by attacking creeps once to trigger it before poking Malph (watch the little icon above your hud at the bottom to see when Grasp will be ready to trigger.)

Teemo Vs Maokai Top Lane Season 12

  • Difficulty: Easy
  • Runes: PTA or Grasp
  • Summoner Spells: Flash, Ignite
  • Starting Items: Doran’s Ring
  • Core Build: Berserker’s or Merc Treads > Wits End > Riftmaker > Oblivion Orb
  • Other Items: Morellonomicon, Nashor’s Tooth, Demonic Embrace, Void Staff, BotRK

Tips & Strategy for Teemo vs Maokai Top Lane Matchup Guide:

He will throw saplings into the top bushes, you can lure them out, use W to escape their range, and make them explode onto creeps. Use this to manage the waves and keep it pushed toward you. This is an easy lane unless you overextend and get caught out by the jungle. You should be able to keep him away from CSing a lot of the time thanks to all this. When I see Maokai top lately (which is rare) usually they are duo with a jungle and plan to gank Teemo a lot. Be sure to have a lot of vision in the jungle/river.

Teemo Vs Mordekaiser Top Lane Season 12

  • Difficulty: Medium to Hard
  • Runes: PTA or Hail of Blades
  • Summoner Spells: Flash, Ignite
  • Starting Items: Boots + Potions or Refillable
  • Core Build: Swift or Berserkers Boots, Rush Quicksilver Sash, Wits End, Riftmaker
  • Other Items: Morellonomicon, Shadowflame, Nashor’s Tooth, Demonic Embrace

Tips & Strategy for Teemo vs Mordekaiser Top Lane Matchup Guide:

Use Quicksilver Sash to escape Mordekaiser’s ult, rush that to have shortly after level 6. Move laterally in lane rather than at him or away from him to make it easier to dodge his pull and Q slam. If possible its best to be aggressive and push so Mordekaiser can’t build up his shield. It’s best to keep harassing him so he has to use it regularly and can’t choose to trade when it’s ideal and can utilize his shield. Without boots its near impossible to poke and dodge his abilities.

Teemo Vs  Mundo Top Lane Season 12

  • Difficulty: Easy early, Medium late game
  • Runes: PTA + Resolve (Bone Plating, Overgrowth)
  • Summoner Spells: Flash, Ignite
  • Starting Items: Doran’s Ring
  • Core Build: Swift Boots, Wit’s End, Riftmaker
  • Other Items: Nashor’s, Void Staff, Blade of the Ruined King, Demonic Embrace, Gargoyle Stoneplate

Tips & Strategy for Teemo vs Mundo Top Lane Matchup Guide:

Just stay behind minions so you don’t eat his Q cleavers. Keep harassing him when you can, he’ll probably resort to farming with his cleavers mostly. Around level 6, have a little respect for his ability to run at you, so don’t get too aggressive too far away from your tower. If he does try chasing, and you’re too far away from your tower, he can run you down with his ult’s move speed and ult to heal up. If that happens, kite around in minions, so he can’t hit any more cleavers and counter his ult with ignite. Don’t run through a big open area while he’s chasing or you’ll get permaslowed and run down. Don’t waste your blind and W willy nilly, use them when needed to dodge and punish him if he ever tries to initiate.

Teemo Vs Nasus Top Lane Season 12

  • Difficulty: Easy early, Harder as game goes long
  • Runes: Phase Rush + Domination: Taste of Blood, Ultimate Hunter or Resolve
  • Summoner Spells: Flash, Ignite
  • Starting Items: Doran’s Ring
  • Core Build: Swift Boots or Mercury’s Treads, Nashor’s, Liandry’s, Oblivion Orb (possibly earlier)
  • Other Items: Morellonomicon, Gargoyle’s, Rabadon’s, Wit’s End, QSS

Tips & Strategy for Teemo vs Nasus Top Lane Matchup Guide:

Push lane most of lane phase if you can do it safely to limit his Q’s, but often the enemy jungle will want to help the Nasus and gank a lot for him. Make sure you have good vision and only push when its safe. Be hesitant to tower dive Nasus as he can survive it and punish. During lane phase you can use blind before Nasus tries to Q a minion (especially a canon to deny him stacks.) Late game Nasus can be a beast and you probably won’t be able to 1v1 him unless you’ve had a really good game and/or have shrooms set up nearby to play around.

Teemo Vs Ornn Top Lane Season 12

  • Difficulty: Easy
  • Runes: Grasp or PTA
  • Summoner Spells: Flash, Ignite
  • Starting Items: Doran’s Ring
  • Core Build: Berserker’s Greaves, Liandry’s or Riftmaker, Nashor’s Tooth
  • Other Items: Wit’s End, Demonic Embrace, Void Staff, Rabadon’s

Tips & Strategy for Teemo vs Ornn Top Lane Matchup Guide:

Push the first 2 waves hard right away, then just control the waves, don’t let him stop the creeps in front of his tower – just harass and try to deny him CS. Main danger here is jungle ganks in combination with Ornn’s ult. Make sure you have good river/jungle vision, keep track of location of enemy jungler.

Teemo Vs Pantheon Top Lane Season 12

  • Difficulty: Medium/Hard
  • Runes: Hail of Blades or Aery + Resolve: Bone Plating, Overgrowth
  • Summoner Spells: Flash, Ignite
  • Starting Items: Cloth armor + potions or Doran’s Ring
  • Core Build: Plated Boots, Liandry’s or Riftmaker, Nashor’s Tooth
  • Other Items: Demonic Embrace, Rabadon’s Deathcap, Gargoyle Stoneplate, Warmogs, Wit’s End

Tips & Strategy for Teemo vs Pantheon Top Lane Matchup Guide LoL:

You can harass him a bit, keep your distance though and don’t overchase. Remember his E blocks damage in front of him, so don’t waste your blind or time autoattacking while that is active. If he does manage to jump on you, it can help to run past his E so it’s not hitting you and you can hit him from behind, but only if you are in a position to kill him quickly. Like usual try to weaken him with constant autoattacks when he comes up to CS.

Teemo Vs Poppy Top Lane Season 12

  • Difficulty: Medium?
  • Runes: Grasp or PTA. Need Grasp or Taste of Blood (at least) for sustain.
  • Summoner Spells: Flash, Ignite
  • Starting Items: Doran’s Ring
  • Core Build: Berserker’s Greaves or Sorc Shoes, Liandry or Riftmaker, Nashor’s Tooth
  • Other Items: Void Staff, Demonic Embrace, Wit’s End, Shadowflame, Rabadon’s

Tips & Strategy for Teemo vs Poppy Top Lane Matchup Guide:

Stay away from walls because of Poppys dash-stun into terrain. If you do get stunned, the initial burst damage can be moderate, but after that she can’t do much for about 10 seconds. However she does have a lot of defense, so she will negate a lot of follow-up damage. Poppy should try to harass you with her shield throw whenever it is up (every 13 seconds), so you’ll want at least Taste of Blood under Domination for sustain. Grasp is the extra safe choice and will let you easily sustain. Try to keep poking her with one or two autoattacks at a time while you stay in the middle of the lane.

Generally just a farm lane, can focus on CS and triggering Grasp of the Undying, be careful going close to the enemy tower where Poppy can flash/stun you into terrain to start a gank. Its unlikely to kill Poppy 1v1, especially considering she gets a ton of extra defense below 40% hp. Also keep in mind she can knock ganks away with her ult. Focus your item build on what will work best for the rest of the game and teamfights.

Poppy’s Cooldowns at each skill rank:

  • Poppy Passive: 13/10/7 (shield throw)
  • Poppy Q: 8/7/6/5/4  (Short range hammer slam with slow and secondary damage)
  • Poppy W: 24/22/20/18/16 (Shield and prevent dashes nearby)
  • Poppy E: 14/13/12/11/10 (Dash at target, stun if it hits terrain) Range: 475
  • Poppy R: 140/120/100 (Knockup, or long distance knock back if charged up)

Teemo Vs Renekton Top Lane Season 12

  • Difficulty: Easy / Medium
  • Runes: PTA, Hail of Blades
  • Summoner Spells: Flash, Ignite
  • Starting Items: Doran’s Ring
  • Core Build: Berserker’s or Plated, Nashor’s Tooth, Riftmaker or Liandry’s
  • Other Items: Wit’s End, Rabadon’s, Demonic Embrace, Zhonya’s, Gargoyles

Tips & Strategy for Teemo vs Renekton Top Lane Matchup Guide:

Not too bad as long as you get your blind off every time Renekton double dashes at you, before he hits you with his stun. Try to be aggresive to prevent him from constantly autoattacking minions to build his rage (which gives him more damage and healing potential.) Be wary at level 6, he will try to all in you with his ult, flash, ignite, double dash, stun, etc — try to have him weak before then, otherwise back and get some HP/armor before he can initiate. When in lane, position yourself behind shrooms so he’ll have to go through them to dash to you. If he does manage to melee you, you can drop shrooms slightly behind you before retreating to to slow him and turn the fight.

Teemo Vs Rengar Top Lane Season 12

  • Difficulty: Medium/Depends
  • Runes: Hail of Blades + Resolve: Bone Plating, Overgrowth
  • Summoner Spells: Flash, Ignite
  • Starting Items: Cloth Armor, Pots
  • Core Build: Plated Boots, Nashor’s Tooth, Liandry’s or Riftmaker,
  • Other Items: Wit’s End, Shadowflame, Demonic Embrace, Zhonya’s, Rabaon’s, Gargoyles, Morellonomicon

Tips & Strategy for Teemo vs Rengar Top Lane Matchup Guide LoL:

Always stay on the river side of the lane, away from bushes – so Rengar can’t jump on you. Respect the range of his jump though, it can reach way further than you’d expect in some circumstances. Push lane hard right away, Rengar loses all power when he’s forced to his turret. You could consider a Giant’s Belt 2nd or 3rd item so Rengar can’t ever ult and assassinate you. Place shrooms at entrances to bushes so Rengar hits them any time he tries to go in there. Make sure you are ready for your AA>Q>AA combo every time Rengar pops out to get a CS.

Teemo Vs Riven Top Lane Season 12

  • Difficulty: Medium
  • Runes: Hail of Blades + Resolve: Bone Plating, Overgrowth -or – Grasp
  • Summoner Spells: Flash, Ignite
  • Starting Items: Cloth Armor + Pots
  • Core Build: Plated Steelcaps, Nashor’s Tooth, Riftmaker or Liandry’s
  • Other Items: Wit’s End, Demonic Embrace, Rabadons Deathcap, Gargoyles

Tips & Strategy for Teemo vs Riven Top Lane Matchup Guide:

Can be a tough lane if Riven gets ahead and is able to all-in you every time her ult is up. Try to control the waves to stop in front of your tower. Poke riven with AA+Q+AA when she tries to CS, but if she is looking to engage, save your blind and just do 1 AA poke, then withdraw. (Usually if she uses her first Q to last hit, she will not look to engage on you for a while.) Going Grasp your first few times playing v Riven can be helpful to give you enough tank to survive Riven all ins but will limit your late game.

Teemo Vs Rumble Top Lane Season 12

  • Difficulty: Medium
  • Runes: Grasp or Hail of Blades
  • Summoner Spells: Flash, Ignite. Could try Flash + Ghost?
  • Starting Items: Doran’s Shield or Doran’s Ring or Corrupting Potion
  • Core Build: Berserker’s, Wit’s  End, Riftmaker,
  • Other Items: Nashor’s Tooth, Shadowflame, Demonic Embrace, Rabadons,

Tips & Strategy for Teemo vs Rumble Top Lane Matchup Guide:

Try to bait out his flamethrower, then backup immediately with W. Then harass him a bit when it’s down, but his shield negates a lot of this. Pretty unlikely to get a kill 1v1, but Rumble will be constantly pushing the lane so inform your jungle at the start of the game and request a gank. Try to harass when possible to weaken Rumble for this, but not at the cost of making yourself too low on HP to help chase Rumble down in a gank. Once you have Wits End and boots, you may be able to chase Rumble down when he overextends and has wasted his shield and overheats.

Teemo Vs Ryze Top Lane Season 12

  • Difficulty: Very Hard / Dodge?
  • Runes: Grasp or Hail of Blades
  • Summoner Spells: Flash, Ignite
  • Starting Items: Doran’s Shield or Corrupting Potion
  • Core Build: Merc Treads, Riftmaker, Wits End and/or Demonic Embrace
  • Other Items: Banshee’s Veil, Warmogs, Gargoyle Stoneplate, Nashor’s Tooth

Tips & Strategy for Teemo vs Ryze Top Lane Matchup Guide:

You can try cheesing him a level 1 by rushing to lane and hiding in the bush on his side of lane, hope he isn’t paying enough attention, you can win trades at level 1, but after that always keep your distance. One of Teemo’s worse matchups, consider dodging. Ryze can win every trade vs Teemo easily by rooting you and preventing you from autoattacking him at all. You can prevent him from hitting you with his Q’s usually by staying behind minions, but it’s still a rough lane. You can try to see how he responds to harassing when his root is down, but most likely you’ll fall behind – I found it better to just play very passive and CS. Normally you could let a matchup like this push to tower and call for a gank, but Ryze’s ult lets him escape ganks easily. Remind your jungle to save their CC to cancel Ryze’s ult if they are nice enough to gank.

Teemo Vs Samira Top Lane Season 12

  • Difficulty: Easy to Hard?
  • Runes: Aery + Domination
  • Summoner Spells: Flash, Ignite
  • Starting Items: Doran’s Ring
  • Core Build: Plated Boots or Sorc, Liandry’s Torment or Luden’s, Demonic Embrace
  • Other Items: Nashor’s Tooth, Lich Bane, Morellonomicon or Thornmail, Randuin’s

Tips & Strategy for Teemo vs Samira Top Lane Matchup Guide:

(Need more experience with this matchup. Try just poking her with your Q’s constantly at max range?) Samira’s W can block projectiles, but has a 20-30 second cooldown, so take advantage when it is down. She also gets high damage and can trade, and after her mythic shieldbow, she will have good sustain while CSing. Her move speed prevents you from being able to easily follow up with repeated AA’s or chase down. If you do try to chase, she has dash and move speed buffs and can turn and do a lot of damage out of nowhere. Ideally get your jungle to pressure heavily and totally shut her down repeatedly.

Teemo Vs Sejuani Top Lane Matchup

  • Difficulty: Medium to Hard
  • Runes: Grasp+Taste of Blood (safety) or PTA
  • Summoner Spells: Flash, Ignite or Ghost
  • Starting Items: Doran’s Ring
  • Core Build 1: Merc Treads or Sorc Shoes, Liandry’s Torment, Demonic Embrace
  • Core Build 2: Berserkers, Riftmaker, Wit’s End
  • Other Items: Nashor’s Tooth, Demonic Embrace, Warmogs

Tips & Strategy for Teemo vs Sejuani Top Lane Matchup Guide:

Sejuani gets tanky very quickly and can definitely kill any Teemo at level 6 with an accurate ultimate and all her skills. Move laterally in lane a lot to help dodge her abilities which generally fire in a straight line. Sejuani has a charge with a knockup (Q), a slow (W), plus a stun that can be triggered in medium to long trades (E), plus an AoE stun + AoE Slow with her ultimate (R.)

Grasp on Teemo in this matchup is a safety pick, can help you stay in lane if you get hit by a combo, but will force you to farm under tower as you will never have enough damage to kill Sejuani barring a misplay. It might be a good choice if it is your first time playing the matchup, but if you hope to win lane against an equal skill Sejuani you will need PTA and Wit’s End plus some health at minimum. Taking ghost can help you chase down Sejuani after you poke her enough since her charge and slows allow her to escape many situations. She will have a lot of HP and does not have healing, so ignite is less optimal here.

Beware: chasing if you are at all low though, she can turn and get a knockup and a good amount of CC and damage on you that is a bit difficult to dodge if you are close enough to hit her with Teemo’s autoattacks. Also beware Sejuani’s R is an extremely good way to help a jungler initiate a gank, and most likely the enemy jungler will plan to take advantage of this.

Teemo Vs Sett Top Lane Season 12

  • Difficulty: Hard
  • Runes: Hail of Blades or Grasp
  • Summoner Spells: Flash, Ignite
  • Starting Items: Boots + Refillable
  • Core Build: Plated, Swift, or Berserker’s Boots > Quicksilver Sash > Nashor’s Tooth, Liandry’s or Riftmaker
  • Other Items: Demonic Embrace, Morellonomicon, Wit’s End, Gargoyle’s Stoneplate, Thornmail

Tips & Strategy for Teemo vs Sett Top Lane Matchup Guide:

Always keep out of range of Sett’s E (pulls in and stuns if he pulls in a minion on the opposite side.) This is why you start boots. Keep in mind he can get a move speed boost with his Q, or after he autoattacks once he gets some items, so he can gap close. You can rush QSS to cancel Sett’s ults. You can push the first 2 waves hard immediately, but then immediately let the creeps push back and try to avoid going past mid-lane.

Teemo Vs Shen Top Lane Season 12

  • Difficulty: Easy to Medium
  • Runes: Hail of Blades or Grasp
  • Summoner Spells: Flash, Ignite or Teleport
  • Starting Items: Doran’s Ring
  • Core Build: Berserker’s Boots > Nashor’s Tooth > Liandry’s or Riftmaker
  • Other Items: Wit’s End, Demonic Embrace, QSS, Void Staff, Rabadon’s, Gargoyle’s, Shadowflame

Tips & Strategy for Teemo vs Shen Top Lane Matchup Guide LoL:

The lane is usually not too hard, though Shen can flash + taunt you to guarantee a good start to a jungle gank. The biggest issue is Shen can help other lanes, so ideally you will push lane hard so he can’t leave without giving up a lot of tower. Make sure you have good vision and knowledge of the enemy jungle’s location however or they will quickly gank you. Keep shen’s taunt range in mind at all times, and keep just out of range. Don’t move predictably, a lot of times he will wait for your second autoattack then taunt toward you while you are momentarily stuck in place. Move side to side a lot and unpredictably. If Shen’s taunt is up, save your Q in case he charges toward you. Remember when he drops his bubble it negates all autoattacks so just withdraw and reposition when that happens.

Teemo Vs Shyvana Top Lane Season 12

  • Difficulty: Medium/Hard
  • Runes: Grasp
  • Summoner Spells: Flash, Ignite
  • Starting Items: Doran’s Ring
  • Core Build: Sorc Shoes or Berserkers, Wit’s End, Riftmaker or Liandry’s
  • Other Items: Banshee’s Veil, Nashor’s Tooth, Demonic Embrace, Warmogs, Gargoyles

Tips & Strategy for Teemo vs Shyvana Top Lane Matchup Guide:

Shyvana will build AP, which gives her a lot of damage potential with Ult dragon form plus her fireball, plus a gap closer. I haven’t played this matchup too much, but you should be aggressive up to level 6, and after level 6 have enough health to not get one shot by one combo + ignite. Wit’s end also gives you MR, while still giving you damage.

Teemo Vs Singed Top Lane Season 12

  • Difficulty: Easy
  • Runes: Phase Rush
  • Summoner Spells: Flash, Ignite
  • Starting Items: Boots or Doran’s Ring
  • Core Build: Swift Boots, Nashor’s Tooth or Wit’s End, Liandry’s or Riftmaker,
  • Other Items: Wit’s End or Nashors, Demonic Embrace, Warmogs, Gargoyles, Force of Nature

Tips & Strategy for Teemo vs Singed Top Lane Matchup Guide:

At the start of the game, follow your creeps to lane and punish Singed if he tries to farm behind your tower. General tip: don’t chase Singed too long, never give up CS while you’re in lane to go back and chase him between your towers. On your way to lane consider popping and red fruits so he can’t use them to escape. Coordinate with your jungle and ward / shroom your jungle to punish Singed trying to proxy farm, but don’t overchase and get desperate for a kill. It can be smart to push your lane hard so you have free time to deal with Singed, but only push when you have good vision and traps set.

Teemo Vs Sion Top Lane Season 12

  • Difficulty: Hard
  • Runes: Grasp or PTA
  • Summoner Spells: Flash, Ignite
  • Starting Items: Boots + Pots
  • Core Build: Swift Boots or Berserkers, Nashor’s Tooth, Riftmaker or Liandry’s,
  • Other Items: Demonic Embrace, Shadowflame, Void Staff, Rabadon’s, Gargoyle Stoneplate

Tips & Strategy for Teemo vs Sion Top Lane Matchup Guide:

Move unpredictably and side to side a lot to make it easier to dodge Sion’s E minion push, if it hits he will follow up with his Q slam/knockup which can be near impossible to avoid if you’re slowed. Boots/Swift boots help with dodging and getting out of his Q range. You can use your W to get out of range of his Slam build-up. Sometimes it is best to run sideways to get out of the slam area instead of directly away from Sion. Worst case it is fairly easy to farm under tower, but doing so too much will allow him to push down your tower, or allow for their jungle to get easy dive kills on you. Try to keep the minions on your half of the lane, but not under the tower. You can use shrooms to shove back the minion wave quickly if Sion is pushing it hard.

Teemo Vs Tahm Kench Top Lane Season 12

  • Difficulty: Medium Hard
  • Runes: Hail of Blades, Grasp or Phase Rush
  • Summoner Spells: Flash, Ignite
  • Starting Items: Dorans Ring
  • Core Build: Swift Boots or Berserker’s Greaves > Wits End > Riftmaker or Liandry’s
  • Other Items: Nashor’s Tooth, Demonic Embrace, Shadowflame, Void Staff, Rabadons, Blade of the Ruined King,

Tips & Strategy for Teemo vs Tahm Kench Top Lane Matchup Guide:

Keep Tahm’s teleport ability in mind – he can dive behind you every 20 seconds so try to keep the creeps near your half of the lane. Phase Rush can help you kite around and dodge his Tongue Lash, or escape if you happen to get hit by one. Kench’s shield and healing can be frustrating to get through, so don’t expect too many 1v1 kills. Still, you can be aggressive, especially at the start of lane phase, and probably at least get him low enough for a gank. Ideally Kench would dive at you right while your jungle is nearby, you kite him a round minions a bit with Phase Rush, then 2v1 for a kill.

Teemo Vs Trundle Top Lane Season 12

  • Difficulty: Medium
  • Runes: Hail of Blades or Phase Rush
  • Summoner Spells: Flash, Ignite
  • Starting Items: Doran’s Ring
  • Core Build: Swiftness Boots or Berserker’s > Nashors > Riftmaker or Liandry’s > Morellonomicon
  • Other Items: Wit’s End, Demonic Embrace, Rabadon’s

Tips & Strategy for Teemo vs Trundle Top Lane Matchup Guide:

Stay in the middle of the lane(ish) to avoid Trundle pinning you against a wall with a pillar. You need to get Oblivion Orb/grievous wounds pretty early on to reduce his healing from minion deaths. Overall, should be pretty easy, just keep in mind his Pillar’s slow factor and don’t commit too far. If he gets on top of you he can do quite a bit of damage, but blind his first attack which will usually be Q empowered.

Teemo Vs Tryndamere Top Lane Season 12

  • Difficulty: Medium / Hard
  • Runes: Phase Rush or Hail of Blades
  • Summoner Spells: Flash, Ignite
  • Starting Items: Doran’s Ring or Boots + Pots
  • Core Build: Plated Steelcaps or Swift Boots > Nashor’s > Liandry’s or Riftmaker > Morellonomicon
  • Other Items: Wit’s End, Morellonomicon, Rabadon’s, Zhonya’s, Gargoyle Stoneplate, Randuins

Tips & Strategy for Teemo vs Tryndamere Top Lane Matchup Guide LoL:

Early on you can really punish Tryndamere, but its also very easy to make a mistake, get out of position, and let Tryndamere chunk or kill you. Tryndamere does have a ton of built in healing to mitigate your your harass. Try to prevent him from autoattacking minions too much as that lets him build up rage, enabling extra damage if he spins at your and/or lets him heal a ton, so pushing the lane right away is ideal when safe. Phase Rush lets you kite away from him, keep in mind if you just activated Phase Rush there is a cooldown till it works again that he may exploit. Save W for if he spins or uses his slow on you, and don’t move into a position where he can spin past you. You need to get grievous wounds early on to cut his healing.

Teemo Vs Urgot Top Lane Season 12

  • Difficulty: Medium-Hard
  • Runes: Grasp of the Undying or PTA or Phase Rush
  • Summoner Spells: Flash, Ignite
  • Starting Items: Doran’s Ring
  • Core Build: Plated Steelcaps > Nashor’s Tooth > Riftmaker
  • Other Items: Morellonomicon, Rabadon’s, Wit’s End, Demonic Embrace, Gargoyle Stoneplate, Shadowflame

Tips & Strategy for Teemo vs Urgot Top Lane Matchup Guide:

Beware Urgot’s flash > dash > flip, but otherwise you should be fairly safe from dying as long as you don’t get too low. Grasp of the Undying can help with this. Phase Rush helps with more dodging his Q’s, and continuing to poke while its down. It can be pretty difficult to kill urgot thanks to his range and his ability to turn and CC you if you try to chase him. If you get flipped just once he can easily kill you, but it is dodgeable most of the time. Late game it can be difficult to kite around and dodge everything for long enough to kill a Tanky Urgot, but still possible.

Teemo Vs Vel’koz Top Lane Season 12

  • Difficulty: Medium
  • Runes: Phase Rush? Hail of Blades? Grasp?
  • Summoner Spells: Flash, Ignite
  • Starting Items: Doran’s Ring
  • Core Build: Swift Boots or Berserkers > Liandry’s or Riftmaker > Nashor’s Tooth
  • Other Items: Wit’s End > Demonic Embrace > Rabadon’s

Tips & Strategy for Teemo vs Velkoz Top Lane Matchup Guide:

Very rare matchup, usually Velkoz will be support, but the enemy team may make a surprise swap. Since its a rare matchup you may not be used to dodging all of Vel’s abilities, but as long as you have move speed and don’t mis-step, you can harass and punish him. Also beware of Velkoz’s ult, which he can fire off and deal a ton of almost guaranteed damage. You could try just charging at him sideways when he does this, drop a shroom on him, ignite him and just all in while trying to move sideways and dodge the laser. Keep in mind he’ll fire off his Q once you do this though.

Teemo Vs Vladimir Top Lane Season 12

  • Difficulty: Medium
  • Runes: Grasp + Domination: Taste of Blood, Ultimate Hunter, OR Hail of Blades + Resolve
  • Summoner Spells: Flash, Ignite
  • Starting Items: Doran’s Ring or Doran’s Shield (safe)
  • Core Build: Berserker’s Greaves >  Oblivion Orb > Wit’s End > Riftmaker
  • Other Items: Nashor’s Tooth, Demonic Embrace, Gargoyle Stoneplate

How to Play Teemo vs Vlad – Top Lane Matchup Guide:

Early game: keep your distance until you build Wit’s End at least.  Consider a refillable potion buy. After Vlad uses his Q on a minion you have a short window to AA him to trigger your sustain Grasp+Taste of Blood. Even with that, you can’t match Vlad’s Q healing sustain. Keep your distance when Vlad’s red meter fills up – his next spell will do extra damage and healing.

Tough to kill Vlad unless he wastes his pool early in a fight; if he does, chase him a little with AA harass. Wait until Wit’s End is finished to commit to any fight. Keep in mind Vlad’s R+ignite is a lot of bonus damage.

Running Hail of Blades instead of Grasp of Undying will give you way more damage output once you finish Wit’s End, but early game you may be forced out of lane more. For safety you can run Grasp.

  • Vlad Q Cooldown: 9 seconds at level 1. Range: 600 (same as Teemo Q.) Teemo AA range: 500

Teemo Vs Wukong Top Lane Season 12

  • Difficulty: Medium
  • Runes: Hail of Blades or Grasp
  • Summoner Spells: Flash, Ignite
  • Starting Items: Cloth Armor + Potions
  • Core Build: Plated Steelcaps, Nashor’s Tooth, Riftmaker or Liandry’s
  • Other Items: Morellonomicon, Wit’s End, Demonic Embrace, Rabadon’s, Gargoyle Stoneplate

Tips & Strategy for Teemo vs Wukong Top Lane Matchup Guide:

You can get a red trinket to track his movement when he goes invisible (save it for when he is pretty low and you plan to all in and he overextends then goes invis.) Respect Wukong’s ult which can deal damage while knocking you up twice, and prevents autoattacks for a long time. Drop shrooms on creeps while trading so Wukong can’t dodge the damage even while invis. Stand behind shrooms you set up so Wukong will hit them whenever he tries to dash at you. Be aggressive and chase for a medium time once his invisibility and dash is down. Blind his Q dashes (must be quick.) Don’t get baited by his clone, which can attack nearby things but can’t move.

Teemo Vs Yasuo Top Lane Season 12

  • Difficulty: Hard
  • Runes: Hail of Blades
  • Summoner Spells: Flash, Ignite
  • Starting Items: Cloth Armor + Potions or Dorans Ring
  • Core Build: Plated Steelcaps, Nashor’s Tooth, Riftmaker or Liandry’s
  • Other Items: Morellonomicon, Wit’s End, Randuin’s Omen, Demonic Embrace, Rabadon’s, Gargoyle Stoneplate

Tips & Strategy for Teemo vs Yasuo Top Lane Matchup Guide:

Yasuo has a ton of abilities to make Teemo’s life a hassle – build’s up a passive that blocks damage for 1 second, has a wind wall that blocks all projectiles (this includes shrooms if you throw them into the wall), and he has a ton of mobility when you have friendly creeps nearby. However it is still possible to punish him when his wind wall is down, just play around that. You also need to dodge his whirlwinds, which can trigger his ult, which build up after he hits 2 Q’s. If you manage all that, just harass him constantly with autoattacks, but save your Q Blind for if he engages on you. There is a larger range in Yasuo skill level than most champions, so that also is a big factor.

Teemo Vs Yone Top Lane Season 12

  • Difficulty: Very Hard
  • Runes: Hail of Blades
  • Summoner Spells: Flash, Ignite
  • Starting Items: Cloth Armor + Potions or Dorans Ring
  • Core Build: Plated Steelcaps, Nashor’s Tooth, Riftmaker or Liandry’s
  • Other Items: Morellonomicon, Wit’s End, Randuin’s Omen, Demonic Embrace, Rabadon’s, Gargoyle Stoneplate, Shadowflame

Tips & Strategy for Teemo vs Yone Top Lane Matchup Guide:

Can be extremely difficult and Yone has a ton of mobility to dive you then retreat, plus a shield to mitigate your return fire. Watch for his ult’s line on the ground and sidestep it. Try to play in front of tower. He will build Imperial Shieldbow right away giving him a lot of lifesteal so after early game it can be very hard to do enough harass to matter. You can try being aggressive for the first few levels, but at around level 6 look to just play more passive unless he makes a mistake. Like Yasuo, after hitting 2 of his Q’s on minions, Yone gets an empowered Q that dashes him forward and has a knockup line. 4 Second cooldown on Q.  His W is a wide slash, cooldown is 12 seconds and gives him a small shield if it hits you. Yone’s E is about a 20 second cooldown that gives him movespeed, pushes him forward and increases damage, he can recast it to teleport back to where he started it. Note that it will always pull him back to where he cast it, so you can drop a shroom there and it will always hit him eventually. Keep moving unpredictably to dodge Yone’s empowered Q’s, punish a bit when you can, save your blind for when he engages on you.

Teemo Vs Yorrick Top Lane Season 12

  • Difficulty: Hard
  • Runes: Phase Rush + Resolve: Bone Plating, Overgrowth
  • Summoner Spells: Flash, Ignite
  • Starting Items: Boots + Pots
  • Core Build: Swift Boots, Nashor’s Tooth, Riftmaker
  • Other Items: Morellonomicon, Wit’s End, Demonic Embrace, Rabadon’s, Gargoyle Stoneplate

Tips & Strategy for Teemo vs Yorrick Top Lane Matchup Guide:

He can heal up quite a bit with his minions and his Q, so Morellonomicon / Oblivion Orb pretty early is important. You can poke him a bit, but there’s a good chance you can get trapped in his circular wall, which requires 3 autoattacks to release you — giving him plenty of time to close the gap and deal damage to you. He gets more damage and healing when his Ultimate Summon is up and targetting you. When his wall is down you could be aggressive, but if he summons his minions and hits you with his E, they will also deal a lot of damage and heal him. After the first few levels, I like to just stay on my half of the lane and not commit much to fighting Yorrick. Later on if you catch him with a shroom or two you can possibly punish him, but respect his healing and damage. Overall you can usually CS in lane pretty somewhat safely, but it gets dangerous when you try to harass him. Always be ready with your W and build boots first to escape his wall trap.

I’m curious if you guys would find it useful to list the enemy champion’s cooldown timers in each mini-guide section? For certain matchups I think that’s valuable to know the window where are free to harass for example.

I want to keep each section easy to read/quick too though, so I’m not sure which route is best.

I realy appricatiate the work you are doing but instead of writing down champion cooldowns I think it would be better to do more matchups since some are missing
